The Indiana Disability Resource Finder website serves as an online resource providing comprehensive support and resources for individuals with disabilities across Indiana It aims to provide information/services/events/resources for many disabilities.
This reports the results and methodology of usability testing of the Indiana Disability Resource Finder website. The task selection and methods were developed based on a previous expert analysis conducted by the three team members. A usability test plan was created after the team's findings from the expert analysis’.
The components of the Indiana Disability Resource Finder included in the testing were the main page, event listings, frequently asked questions section. The study included 3 participants, in the age range of 25-50. Participants conducted a pre usability test questionnaire to assess their familiarity and experience with similar websites or resources. A post questionnaire was given after the usability test to evaluate the participants experience and opinions regarding the use of the Indiana Disability Resource Finder. Participants's tasks while utilizing the website were analyzed via a system usability scale (SUS).
The entirety of each session was conducted remotely utilizing a zoom call, as well as the screen share feature to assess participants' interactions. Each session was analyzed and discussed by the team.
In general the findings showed that participants had issues when utilizing the website’s search functionality and the event section. Cosmetic issues were a concern in the “frequently asked questions” section as well as the “start your journey” section, as users had minor concerns regarding these sections and the tasks corresponding to them. The website showed both major and minor concerns of its design aspect that should be worked upon for user interaction and success.
